Loretto - Bantwal, Sept 08: The parishioners of Our Lady of Loretto in Bantwal celebrated the Feast of Nativity with great enthusiasm and devotion. The festivities kicked off with a procession featuring the Bambina of Infant Mary from the Loretto Matha Sabha Bhavan. During the procession, parishioners carried newly harvested paddy, while children carried flowers.
The festive Mass was celebrated by Fr. Gladwin Fernandes, along with Parish Priest Fr. Francis Crasta, Fr. Jason Vijay Monis (Principal of Loretto Central School), Fr. James Vas S.J., and Fr. Jerald Lobo. In his homily, Fr. Gladwin Fernandes emphasized the importance of the Feast of Nativity, which commemorates the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The choir enhanced the solemnity with beautiful hymns, adding depth to the occasion.
After the Mass, a ceremony honored two outstanding students from the parish. Rishel Lobo was recognized for achieving 1st rank in engineering, while Melita was celebrated for securing 5th rank in her B.Com studies. Both were praised for their academic excellence and dedication.
Following the Mass, newly harvested paddy and sugarcane were distributed among the parishioners, bringing a joyful end to the celebrations.
