Loretto, 15 August, Friday: Our Lady of Loretto Church, in collaboration with the PPC, the Commission for Liturgy and Catechists, and the Commission for Proclamation and Evangelisation, jointly organised "Keerthanachi Gazovni" – a unique spiritual initiative where 150 psalms were sung by all the 14 wards of the parish. The gurkaars of the wards took the lead in motivating and preparing their ward members for this historic event.
It is the first time in the Diocese of Mangalore that such a holy work of rendering all the psalms together was undertaken by a Church, especially in the context of the Jubilee Year. The event drew an enthusiastic gathering of about 350 faithful, who prayerfully participated and encouraged their wards.
The programme commenced at 3:00 p.m. and concluded at 9:30 p.m. The participants, dressed in serene white attire, reflected a calm and prayerful atmosphere. At 6:00 p.m., refreshments were served to all present.
Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta and Principal Fr. Jason Vijay Monis enriched the programme by offering short reflections before each psalms, introducing and explaining their meaning and significance. The evening thus became a beautiful blend of prayer, music, and reflection, uplifting the hearts of all.
Special prayers were offered for various intentions with deep faith. Sr. Idoline Rodrigues coordinated the singing responsibilities, while choir members along with musicians Mr. Avin Vas and Rolwin Rodrigues provided melodious support with instruments.
Truly, it was an evening of devotion and grace, uniting the parish community in prayer and song.
