22 September, Loretto: On the occasion of Elders' Day, a heartwarming program was organized at Loretto Church, led by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) and the Commission for Family and Social Development. The event, which aimed to honor the elderly of the parish, was a beautiful blend of prayer, joy, and togetherness.
The program commenced with a solemn prayer service by Church Choir members of Loretto Church followed by the lighting of the lamp to signify the beginning of the day's events. The SVP President of the Mangalore Diocese, Mr. Joe Coelho, along with the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta, addressed the gathering, expressing their gratitude and admiration for the elders' contributions to the church and society.
Mrs. Mildred and Mr. Cyril Rodrigues shared their thoughts on this day celebration. The Principal of our school Rev. Fr. Jason Monis, Vice president of PPC Mr. Cyprian Dsouza, secretary Mrs. Shaila Barboza, Coordinator for all the commission Mr. Prakash Vas, SVP president Mr. Felix Dsouza, Mr. Praveen Pinto, Mr. Jerald Menezes and Mr. Joe Coelho were the dignitaries on the dais.
The event was further brightened with lively games, organized by Mrs. Maria and Mrs. Gretta which brought smiles and laughter to the faces of all the elders. It was a wonderful opportunity for the elderly to showcase their playful spirit and enjoy the moment.
The fun-filled day culminated with a prize distribution ceremony, with Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta graciously handing out prizes to the winners, recognizing their participation and enthusiasm.
The entire program was eloquently compered by Mrs. Helen, who kept the flow smooth and engaging throughout the event.
The Elders' Day Celebration was a great success, leaving everyone with a sense of fulfillment and joy, as they celebrated the wisdom and experience of the elders of Loretto Church.
