October 30, Loretto: In observance of Mission Sunday, the ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement) Loretto Unit, guided by their Director and supported by Animators, organized a successful scrap collection drive. Youth members went door-to-door in the community, gathering recyclable items such as old newspapers, bottles, and metal waste. Once collected, the scrap was sold to recycling centers, with proceeds donated to the church in honor of Mission Sunday. This initiative not only raised funds but also highlighted the importance of community service, recycling, and environmental responsibility.
The Scrap Collection Drive focused on collecting a range of recyclable materials, including paper, plastics, metals, and electronic waste. After gathering, the items were carefully sorted and sent to certified recycling centers to ensure they were properly processed and repurposed. This eco-friendly approach supported Mission Sunday’s values by emphasizing sustainability and waste reduction.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from numerous ICYM youth volunteers, who contributed their time and efforts in various ways, from gathering and sorting to transporting the materials. This collective effort fostered a strong sense of teamwork and environmental responsibility among the young participants.
The funds raised through this recycling initiative will support Mission Sunday 2024 projects. ICYM Loretto Unit’s dedication to social causes and environmental stewardship shines through in this initiative, reflecting their commitment to giving back to both the community and the environment.
